Electric guitar Electric bass Drums 76-77, is a funk rock chart in 4/4 and 7/4 which can be opened up for solo’s at letter B1 and C1. Instrumentation: Standard Big Band (5-4-4 + rythm) From CD “Lone Attic” Leddy Freddy, is a latin chart in cut time. The head is a piano solo with saxophone back-grounds and the chart can be opened up for a tenor solo at letter E1. The tune is a 32 bar AABA form. Copyright 02-04-1982

Instrumentation: Standard Big Band (5-4-4 + rythm) From CD “Lone Attic”Gunter Ballade, is a ballad in 5/4 and 4/4. If possible the trumpet section should play flugel horns.Copyright 08-04-1982

Instrumentation: Big Band Timbuktu, is a latin chart in cut time with a trombone lead. This can be opened for solos. Copyright 02-04-1982

Instrumentation: Big Band: Cactus, is a funk rock chart in 5/4 – 4/4 and cut time. It requires a good reader on bass.It has a guitar solo in it and can also be opened for solos at letter E. Copyright 10-30-1978

Instrumentation: Big Band: When You’re Gone, is a solo trombone feature through-composed ballad.Copyright 08-16-1982

Instrumentation: Big Band: Secret Name, is a funk rock chart in 5/4 and 4/4 which is more of a groove than a melodic composition. It requires alto and soprano sax on the lead chair. Copyright 02-04-1982

Instrumentation: Big Band: Suite to Bjørn, this piece won the NOPA’s music prize of the year in 1982. It has three parts in cut time. The first part consists of a rebato alto sax and piano intro-duction. Then comes a fast latin part and in the end a fast funk part. The composition is an alto feature with a piano solo, drum solo and guitar solo. It requires good reading abilities fromthe band because of the speed. Alto and soprano sax are required on the lead chair.

Instrumentation: Alto sax or Flute or Oboe and Piano: Duo, is a beautiful ballad for alto sax and piano. This piece supplies a refreshing break from the “fat” big band sound. Copyright 09-30-1983

Instrumentation: Big Band: 222 E. 75th street, is a latin funk chart in 4/4. This chart is hard because of its long notes. Alto and Soprano are required on the lead chair. One of the trumpets must play both trumpet and flugel horn. The chart opens up for solos at letter G. A chase sequence here has shown to be successful. Flute and piccolo parts are also written in the woodwind parts, though they are not essential to the piece if they are not available.

Instrumentation: Big Band: Flumpy, is a nice ballad in 4/4 with a trompone lead and a flugel horn solo.

Instrumentation:Big Band: Krønsch, is a minor blues chart in cut time built on 4ths. The chart opens for solos and ends with a very heavy trumpet section feature before the bass solo. Copyright 02-25-1982

Instrumentation: Big Band: J. We Have No Bananas: This composition is Bossa Nova chart. It is a Bass Trombone feature and it has a solo, improvised section as well in which the woodwind section must play bass clarinet, clarinet and flutes. Instrumentation: Big Band: Is a rock and roll chart for big bands. It is through-composed with no solos, yet it has a fairly hard trumpet lead. Copyright 08-29-1983

Instrumentation: Big Band: Luna Tune II: This composition is somewhat like a Gill Evans chart. It has a tenor feature in which the woodwind section must play bass clarinet, clarinet, flute and piccolo flute. Flugel horns are required in the trumpet section. Copyright 04-01-1986

Instrumentation: Big Band: Mordere Og Røvere…Is a jazz waltz chart that requires a strong lead trumpet. It features a flugel horn solo and a guitar solo. Copyright 05-06-1981

Instrumentation: 5 Trombones & Rhythm section: This composition won NOPA’s music prize of the year in 1986. It is a composition written for 5 trombones, bass drums and two keyboards. (one of the key board parts can be played by the guitarist on guitar) Copyright 06-08-1984

Instrumentation: Big Band: The Night Of The 1990’s: A short and through composed ouverture (duration 2.20). The middle section on this piece is difficult to play but this also works very well as a show starter. Copyright 03-19-1992

Instrumentation: Big Band: Abide With Me: This chart is in a 5/4-6/4-4/4 time. Apart from the miter changes it is not so hard to play. In the middle of the chart there is a one bar harmony solo wich should be fun to play on. Copyright 09-30-1993

Instrumentation: Big Band: Husky Walk, is a latin disco chart, nice and melodic and easy to play. Open for solos at letter H. it requires a good soloist. Copyright 11-24-1987

Instrumentation: Vocal, Alto sax, Rhythm section: Take The Chance, this song is more of a David Foster type of ballad for the rhythme section and a vocalist. Lyrics: Gloria Rosa. Copyright 11-05-1986

Instrumentation: Big Band: Free fall has a groove like “Birdland”. Free fall also has a one harmony bar for solos ad.lib. in F natural. Copyright 07-19-1990

Instrumentation: Big Band: The Waiting Collapse: This piece is a funky Bossa Nova chart with three elements working at the same time. It is easy to solo on and has two band “shout” choruses between the solos. It is best performed using two flutes in the sax section. The piece provides the opportunity for the band to use its differences in dynamic. Copyright 07-19-1990

Instrumentation: Big Band: The End: Is a fun and easy disco chart to play. There is a section in the middle where the guitarist might let loose on a written background. Two different endings are available: “Coda I” for dance performances and “Coda II” for concerts. Copyright 07-19-1990

Instrumentation: Vocal and Rhythm section:We Need Us All: This is a very nice vocal tune which only uses a keyboard player and a vocalist in order to create a contrast to the full big band sounds in a concert context. Lyrics: Asbjørn Håmo. This song was also used in the TV show Guiding Lights. Copyright 06-08-1984

Instrumentation: Big Band: Over And Out: This has a typical New York groove and is quite bi-tonal. The chart is consisting of a theme, plus a trompet, alto, guitar and trombone solo. The ending is very difficult – but fun.

Instrumentation: Big Band: Cayo Hueso, is a reggae, swing, jazz, waltz chart and easy to play. It is open for solos at letter F. Requires a good soloist. Copyright 04-01-1986

Instrumentation: Big Band: This is written in a very contrapoint way. The chart is hard to play, it also has a tenor sax feature. Lots of blowing. Copyright 03-18-1993

Instrumentation: Big Band, or only Vocal and Piano: Seasons Wander: This ballad is a type of swing tune which never goes completely into a real swing groove but stays in the half time feel. Soft big-band backing of a vocalist. Copyright 11-05-1986

Instrumentation: Big Band: The Morning Bird, from the suite “The Three Winged Bird” starts with a ballad that goes into a Carla Blay type of medium tempo swing. The movement requires a soprano saxophone on the lead chair. It also has a written chorus on the lead trumpet chair. Copyright 09-01-1988

Instrumentation: Big Band: The Gliding Bird, from the suite “The Three Winged Bird” is a 16th note groove ballad. Everything is through composed. There is lots of nice reading for the rythme section. Copyright 09-01-1988

Instrumentation: Big Band: The Boogie Woogie Bird, from the sweet “The Three Winged Bird” is a boogie woogie chart. It requires good reading abilities. It is a nice sassy chart with seperate endings if it is used on its own. Copyright 09-01-1988

Instrumentation: Big Band: Strolling: This is a nice 12/8-4/4 groove and very melodic in a commercial way. You may want to let the brass and saxes take tacit from letter J 8 bars and letter K 6 bars, then let the horns enter 2 bars before L.The chart needs a guitar solo from letter J through K. This will make the chart just like the CD. Strolling works very well on the dance floor. Copyright 10-08-1996

Instrumentation: Big Band: Slow Samba: This groove is a blend of bossa and heavy samba. It requires a flugelhorn for a lead line and a tenor saxophone soloist to play 8 bars in the middle of the chart, and 8 bars in the end of the chart. Copying 08-04-1997

Instrumentation: Big Band: Blue Note, is a blues in F, there is an opening in the middle of the chart for solos. The changes are written in such a way that it is possible to play the F blues scale through the whole solo. There is also written out a solo for trumpet, trombone and alto saxophone to be played simultaneously towards the end. Copyright 02-16-1998

Instrumentation: Big Band: It Just Happened: This is a ballad featuring the saxophone section. A small melody in the trombone part can also be played on an ephonium if wished. This chart is perhaps the most difficult chart on the CD for the saxophones, but it is a very nice piece. Copyright 06-17-1996

Instrumentation: Big Band: I Really Don’t Know: The groove on this composition is very “sting” oriented. The chart demands a lot of blowing but is very up beat and well sounding. On the CD, the middle section is played on accordion. This is written in the lead alto part. Copyright 02-16-1998

Instrumentation: 4 trumpets and 4 trombones. A tuba part was created by doubling the 4th. trombone part. Fat Brass: It says itself. This is only written for 4 trumpets and 4 trombones. Copyright 09-30-1986

Instrumentation: Big Band: Susanna’s Waltz: This is a through-composed jazz waltz with no improvisations. It works very well with a band both as a concert number and a dance number. It juggles between jazz 3/4 and even 3/4. Copyright 12-09-1993

Instrumentation: Big Band: Food Fight, is a famous food signal from the Norwegian army which has been totally rearranged. It can be played without the loop on the CD, or one could sample the loop and punch play on letter A from a sampler. Either way, it is perhaps smart to rehearse this to the “CD music minus 13”, to learn to play it in time. Good concert number. opyright 02-16-1998

Instrumentation: Big Band: Wallflower: This chart gives a lot of different hornplayers in the band a chance to blow a couple of bars with written solos. It is also a nice ballad. Copyright 02-16-1998

Instrumentation: Big Band: Summer Openning, is a good and powerful through composed number to the audience. There is a lot of blowing all the way through. Copyright 12-09-1993

Instrumentation: Big Band: Gloria: This is maybe the most artsy chart on the CD. It is written as a duet between el. bass and tenor saxophone. There are solos to be played for both players, both written and improvised. This is a very pretty ballad best used in concerts or jazz club performances. Copyright 06-17-1996

Instrumentation: Big Band: Sunshine & Everglades: The groove on this composition is more like a slow funk groove. This chart needs a trumpet player for an improvised solo over two harmonies. Apart from that, it is straight ahead. Copyright 08-04-1997

Instrumentation: Big Band: Overture: This is a good and short opener or even a closer in a concert. It is upbeat and rock’n rollish. Copyright 09-30-1989

Instrumentation: Big Band: What A Trip: This blues is very easy to play. It is written for a soloist (any instrument) and has some easy backgrounds on the solos. The groove is a shuffle/swing groove. Copyright 2000

Instrumentation: Big Band: Nix Vogel: This composition was written in memory of the late drummer Ole Jacob Hansen. Nix Vogel was one of his favorite expressions. It begins with a ballad that moves into a swing feel that are open for solos. The chart ends up like it started with the theme in a ballad mode on Baritone Sax and Piano. Copyright 2000
